Annie has studied and played professionally for more than 25 years. Drawn to ragtime at an early age, she found it an attractive jumping off point to study jazz and composition at University of Tennessee in Knoxville.(Honours Degree) Moving into the world of playing piano and organ in North America, she has played in many solo and band situations, from blues to big band, radio and television, theatre and touring.
After obtaining a teaching degree from Dalhousie, Annie taught an elementary school music program for 20 years in Nova Scotia and Yukon, while maintaining a private piano studio and preschool Orff classes.
Annie has a firm belief that spreading the joy of music makes the world a better place, and giving children that ability is a basis of music education. Annie is one half of Two Piano Tornado, a unique touring duo with Grant Simpson.
